FIRST AQUA FITNESS EXPERIENCE
What was your first experience in aqua fitness? Water Fitness assisted me in a critical time in my life when attempting to rehabilitate my ankle and knee. I was the youngest in the class, I remember the class like it occurred yesterday. The class participants watched my every move, while nonverbally communicating what are you doing here? I had a few initial moments of being uncomfortable, I quickly adapted to this new environment. I traded metal dumbbells and exercise machines for a pool. From the outside looking in, everything looks so easy. Once you get into the water and begin the workouts, everything changes. I experienced all of the muscles in my body, coming together to help me to experience a new way of working out: aqua fitness! After my initial workout, I smiled and slowly walked to the changing area. I emphasize slowly because I felt like I was dragging my body, everything felt so heavy. Have you experienced that before, leaving everything in the pool, yet feeling like you are carrying all of the water from the pool with you!
I hadn’t sleep that soundly after a workout in many years! My knees and ankles had less pain, and I was able to move faster. There must be something to this! I was smiling and although the workout was challenging, I felt ENERGIZED! This was all I needed! I had found my tribe, my niche, my place; The pool! And so we began our journey together.
